Dennis thanked his wife Linda, Susie Eberhard and Cayte Anderson for providing the snacks, beverages and flowers.
- Recognition of UW Stout Scholarship Recipients
Susie Eberhard welcomed the UW Stout Students to the conference and the meeting. We hope the positive experience at the conference motivates them to become future members of WRA. In appreciation, each student was given a famed certificate acknowledging their attendance at the conference.
- Approval of Agenda
Requests were made to add approving Legislative Chair and discussing of WRA table to the agenda. Dennis shared that the agenda is abbreviated and due to time constrictions we may not get through everything. Motion made by Erik Martin, seconded by Susie Eberhard to approve the agenda. Motion carried
- Secretary’s Report
Minutes from the February 2008 meeting had been e-mailed to board members prior to the meeting. Deb Henderson-Guenther updated the group that at this time, WRA is unable to have a display table at the DVR Bi-Regional Meetings; this decision was made by Charlene Dwyer. There is a possibility this could change for next year but for now that is the decision. Motion made by Deb Henderson-Guenther, seconded by Michael Hermsmeier to accept the minutes. Motion carried.
- Treasurer’s Report
Rich Willette reported on the current balances in the checking and savings accounts and the CD balance. He is in the process of getting spreadsheets updated to track the budget for the year. He did express the fact that funds may need to be transferred from savings account to checking account to insure all expenses related to the conference were covered. Motion made by Susie Eberhard, seconded by Jim Hill to transfer $1,000.00 from savings to checking account to cover conference costs. Motion carried.
Discussion was also held on “going green” and “re-using” tote bags each year at the conference. It was suggested to promote some incentive for bringing your tote bag from the previous year to re-use. This idea will be brought up at the next conference Planning Committee Meeting. Motion made by Erik Martin, seconded by Rick Block to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
- Old Business
- Legislative Committee Co-Chair
Timothy A Carey has offered to be Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee but this was never voted on. Motion made by Susie Eberhard, seconded by Richard Willette to recommend to accept Tim Carey as Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee. Motion carried.
- Staffing WRA Table
Deb Henderson-Guenther is still in need of WRA members to staff the table at the conference. Coverage is needed from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM all day on Thursday. A power-point will be running continuously. Time slots were discussed and people filled in as they could.
- Leadership Forum
The first Legislative Affairs Day was held in 2006. Since then it has been held bi-annually and it has partnered with the Youth Leadership Forum. The focus for 2008 will be on teaching youth self-advocacy. WRA has allocated $500.00 sponsorship for this event. The date for 2008 is June 24th and there is a need for adult mentors for approximately 35 students. Mentors could come for the full day (starting around 9:00 AM) or connect with the youth at lunch, discuss their presentation at the Capitol and support them when they meet with legislators throughout the afternoon. Anyone wishing to volunteer or assist with this event should contact Cayte Anderson, Jenny Wagner or Deb Henderson-Guenther.
- WARPS Seminar
Just a reminder, a WARPS Seminar is being held on Friday, May 9th, at the Crowne Plaza in Madison, WI. WRA members are encouraged to attend.
- Website
Jim has met with Tim Carey and a lot of the website issues have been taken care. A new board picture needs to betaken for the website. Tim will be at the conference on Thursday, so do stop and chat with him if you see him.
- Newsletter
Jim Hill would like to get a newsletter out to membership shortly after the conference. He is asking for articles and pictures from board members.

- Sponsorship for Spring Event
Cayte Anderson shared that the UW-Madison Rehab Psych Department is thinking about sponsoring a spring event this year and was wondering if WRA would be willing to be a sponsor. The event is meant to be information sharing and informal, no date has yet been set. Discussion was held by members about changing SWRA to Student Chapters to be inclusive of all student chapters.
Motion made by Cayte Anderson, seconded by Amy Thomson for WRA to allocate a total of $200.00 from the 2008 budget to support Student Rehabilitation Activities, to be divided equally between student chapters. Motion carried.
- Tech Expo
The Tech Expo is planned for October 2, 2008 at the Engineering Centers Building on the UW Madison campus. The committee is actively working on the agenda and most of the expenses are covered. It was questioned if WRA would be willing to support the event with an in kind donation. This will be further discussed at the June 2008 meeting.
