- WRA Board Goals 2009
Increase membership (network with other states for member recruiting ideas, outreach and education of mission to students)
- Membership is declining and we have the same members over time.
- Need to attract new membership and get their feedback.
- Attract more students, perhaps with a Facebook page
- Robert Gervey, teaches Foundations course, or Donna Little are the contacts at UW-Madison to get information out to the students about WRA.
- We could offer free WRA student memberships.
- The UW-Stout chapter is very active, how can we get an UW-Madison chapter going? Ruth Lynch is the advisor and Susie has talked to her. Their program is more of a Disability Studies program for PT/OT students, than for Rehab students.
- If anyone has ideas on how to get more of the DVR counselors to join, let Deb know your thoughts.
- APSE was discussed as an alternate conference to sponsor than RFW.
- Deb is working on getting info out at DVR Regional meetings as well.
We did not discuss the other goals at the meeting due to time constraints.
- Membership Flier
A copy of the completed membership flier was shared with the group. This was a handout at the WRA exhibit table on Thursday at the conference.
- Legislative Report
Jim went to Washington D.C. for a vacation and for some business in late March. He met with Herb Kohl, Russ Feingold, David Obey, Ron Kind and Tammy Baldwin. A hand out of what information was given to the Senators and Representatives was shared with the group.
