Re: The Disabled Workers Empowerment Act

Dear Representative Kleczka,

The Wisconsin Rehabilitation Association, Wisconsin's state chapter of the National Rehabilitation Association, would like to express our support for HR 1693, the Disabled Workers Empowerment Act. We strongly believe that all individuals have the right to work, but many people with disabilities are discouraged from doing so by the financial barriers and disincentives imposed on them. HR 1693 will allow individuals with disabilities to deduct certain work-related and personal care expenses not currently deductible and will generate a positive impact on the lives of many employees. Your proposed legislation further endorses and supports the firm belief that individuals with disabilities have the right to independence and the right to work in the community.

We thank you for your ongoing commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities by promoting full employment for all.

Sincerely,

Cayte Anderson
WRA President
