- WRCA is an association dedicated to advancing the profession of rehabilitation counseling. The advancement of the profession is done through the establishment of professional ethics, public understanding and supportive programs. The supportive programs assist all persons with disabilities to become self-sufficient and contributing members of society. - National Association for Independent Living (NAIL) -
- Members include persons with disabilities, Rehabilitation Counselors, Independent Living Practitioners and Educators. The focus of the NAIL is empowerment of persons with disabilities. Professionals and consumers of rehabilitation services work together to enhance the quality of life and promote the rights of citizens with disabilities. NAIL advocates for the power of informed choice. The division believes that education, awareness, and advocacy will eliminate the barriers to equal participation for persons with disabilities. - National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation (NAMRC)-
- Concerns. Members include Rehabilitation Professionals, Human Services Providers/Specialists, Educators, Rehabilitation Researchers, Rehabilitation Managers/Supervisors, Rehabilitation Consultants/Trainers, Students, Support/Employment Personnel, and Persons with Disabilities and Physicians. NAMRC is committed to support and actively champion concerns that affect the rehabilitation needs and services to persons with disabilities to create an understanding of the barriers, impact and outcomes of cultural insensitivity; to enhance service delivery; to ensure the provision of equitable and quality rehabilitation services; to develop professional education and certification of credible cultural awareness and education programs; to advocate, propose and support legislation that address the needs of multicultural persons with disabilities and their communities. - National Association of Rehabilitation Instructors (NARI) -
- Members include Physical Therapists, Occupational, Speech and Visual Therapists, Special Education Instructors and Home Health Nurses. NARI is devoted to increasing the understanding of the important roles of the wide variety of rehabilitation instructors in the total rehabilitation process. Members include special education teachers, mobility and orientation instructors, physical therapists, and others. In recent years, the increasing prominence of supported employment and transition programs has positioned this division to play a more important role in the professional growth and development of rehabilitation instructors. - National Association of Rehabilitation Support Staff (NARSS) -
- Members include Office Support Staff in a Rehabilitation Setting. NARSS increases the member's understanding of the total rehabilitation process and serves as an advocate for individuals with disabilities. Activities conducted by the NARSS include training on a state, regional and national level; service projects that give organizations which serve people with disabilities a percentage of the profits realized; and the Secretary Service Award presented annually on a state, regional and national basis. - National Association of Service Providers in Private Rehabilitation (NASPPR) -
- Members include Rehabilitation Counselors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Placement Specialists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Vocational Evaluators, Job Developers, Employers, Speech Pathologists, Insurance Adjusters, Administrators, Managers/Supervisors, Educators, Attorneys, Physicians and Students. NASPPR works to improve the quality of the entire rehabilitation process from the medical phase to the job placement phase. Members provide a wide variety of medical, rehabilitation, employment insurance and legal services in highly diverse settings. The division provides a forum where professionals from many disciplines can work more closely together to enhance the delivery of services to people with disabilities. Memberships are available to for-profit and non-profit service providers in private rehabilitation and all others (Affiliate and Student) who are enhancing the rehabilitation opportunities of people with disabilities. - National Association of Rehab Leadership(NARL) -
- Members include Non-profit Rehabilitation Instructors, State Agency Vocational Rehabilitation Instructors and Private Instructors. NARL supports professional training sessions on the state and regional levels and encourages development of rehabilitation administrators. This division has grants-in-aid programs for both state and regional units. These grants are awarded to support professional programming in the area of administration and supervision and other operational needs. - Members include Public Non-Profit and Private Sector Placement Professionals, Job Training professionals, Public and Private Employment Agency Personnel and EEO Officers. The NRAJPD Division advances the employment of persons with disabilities by enhancing the skills of job placement professionals. The division continues to develop programs responsive to the specialties within rehabilitation placement, such as Projects with Industry (PWI) Transitional and Supportive Employment. The division also provides training for its members in such job placement practices as networking, job banks, and computerized job matching systems, ergonomics, and job readiness training. - National Rehabilitation Counseling Association (NRCA) -
- Members include Rehabilitation Counselors, Rehabilitation Counselor Educators, Researchers in Rehabilitation Counseling, Students in Training and Support Personnel to Rehabilitation Counselors. NRCA strives to accommodate the professional interests and needs of all rehabilitation counselors, regardless of their work setting or job title. NRCA also dedicates itself to the pursuit of self-fulfillment of all persons with disabilities, providing opportunities for students to participate in professional activities and to interface with experienced practitioners in the field of rehabilitation. This professional division also provides its membership with professional opportunities on the local, regional and national levels--including an annual Professional Development Symposium, legislative information and advocacy, along with a Certification Maintenance Plan (CRC, CIRS, NCC). - Vocational Evaluation & Work Adjustment Association (VEWAA) -
- Members include Vocational Evaluators, Work Adjustment Specialists, Transition Specialists and Supported Employment Personnel. VEWAA represents the interests and needs of human service professionals who provide vocational evaluation/assessment and work adjustment services. VEWAA's mission is to improve and advance the professions of vocational evaluation and work adjustment. The organizational structure provides members with a wide variety of services at both the state chapter and national level--including training and educational benefits, plus a directory of employment opportunities. National committees monitor the development of pertinent legislation, standards and services for accreditation, and current issues that concern members in the practice of vocational evaluation and work adjustment. - Leglislative Chair-
- The WRA legislative chair reviews all rehabilitation related bulletins, updates and press releases from the NRA national office
, and from local sources. The legislative chair then provides reports to the WRA board regarding topics of interest, and makes recommendations for any action that should be taken by the board, or the WRA membership. This would include, but not be limited to, preparation of position statements, contacts with legislators and/or their aides, and letter writing campaigns. The legislative chair is the board member typically assigned to represent WRA at the annual NRA legislative affairs seminar in Washington D.C., if the board decides to send a representative or delegation. The legislative chair will be responsible for arranging meetings with legislators and coordinating activities at this event, as well as reporting back to the board on the work done at this seminar.
